Key Stage Three

All pupils in years 7 and 8 and 9 receive one hour of teaching per week.

Instrumental tuition is also available via Bury Music Service.

Topics Covered:

In year 7, Students compose, perform and appraise during the following topics: Rhythm (including West African drumming),  Keyboard Skills, Ukulele, Elements of Music and The Planets. 

Students also use their voices as well as playing instruments throughout the year.

In year 8, Students compose, perform and appraise during the following topics: Minimalism, Keyboard Skills, Band Skills, Reggae and Chords. 

Students learn to play a variety of instruments including the ukulele, drum kit, keyboard, bass guitar and the voice.

In year 9, Students compose, perform and appraise during the following topics: Blues Music, Band Skills, Popular Music and Film Music. 

Students continue to develop their drumming, guitar, ukulele and keyboard skills within these topics.

Key Stage Four:

All pupils who opt to study Music receive three hours of teaching per week and follow the Eduqas specification. Students also receive 30 minutes instrumental tuition each week.
