Key Stage Three

All pupils study either French or Spanish. Most students receive two one-hour lessons every week, with the exception of a small minority who receive one hour weekly.

Topics Covered:

Year 7 (French): Talking about myself and my likes and dislikes.

Talking about school and giving opinions with reasons.

Talking about weather and free time activities.

Talking about family and where I live. 

Study of the French film A Cat in Paris.

Year 8 (French):

Talking about family life and describing where you live. 

Talking about weekend activities and learning how to order food and drink. 

Talking about hobbies with specific reference to the media and  technology. 

Looking at Paris and describing a trip to Paris. 

A study of the French film, “The Choir”

Year 9 (Spanish):

Giving a range of opinions, talking about films and celebrity lifestyle.

Talking about jobs and future plans and aspirations. 

Talking about a healthy/ unhealthy lifestyle. 

A study of Madrid.

A study of a South American film Innocent Voices.

Key Stage Four:

Students who opt for French or Spanish at GCSE receive three hours of lessons each week. We follow the AQA CGSE specifications.
